From Garage Weights to Guiding Lives: A Journey of Strength and Growth
Growing up in South Africa, I was surrounded by athletes—my parents were long-distance runners. Yet, I didn’t share their love for running. Instead, my early years were shaped by challenges, including bullying, which led me to seek strength in a different way.
At 14, I began weightlifting in my parents’ garage, inspired by the athletes and bodybuilders I saw in magazines. That passion ignited a lifelong love affair with fitness, culminating in 25 years of training and competing as a bodybuilder.
Over the years, my journey taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of adapting to life's changes. At 40, my focus shifted from stepping onto bodybuilding stages to staying strong and functional as I age. I've also faced and worked through injuries, giving me a deep understanding of living with and training around physical limitations.
After a fulfilling 12-year career in IT, I felt a calling to share my knowledge and experience. I became a qualified Personal Trainer, dedicated to helping others navigate their fitness journeys with confidence and expertise.
My Training Philosophy
I believe in keeping things simple, approachable, and effective. Whether you’re stepping into the gym for the first time or looking to refine your skills, I focus on solid technique and personalised program design.
My goal is to meet you where you are and guide you toward consistent, sustainable progress.
I’m not here to yell or push you beyond your limits unnecessarily. Instead, I offer encouragement and support, turning what might feel like a daunting first session into an experience you’ll look forward to repeating.
Once the habit is formed, training becomes fun—and that’s where the magic happens.
Celebrating Success
Every client I work with has a unique story and set of goals. Whether it’s improving daily energy, sleeping better, or achieving a major milestone like stepping onto a bodybuilding stage, I take pride in guiding people toward their personal victories.
One of my proudest moments was helping a 56-year-old client prepare for his first bodybuilding show, where he earned multiple placings.
